The Glienicker Bridge is a remnant from the Cold War, located between Berlin and Potsdam. Although made famous in recent times, there has been a bridge here across the RiveR Havel since 1616 as an essential route. Originally wooden, the famous bridge of the 20th century is built of steel. It was the place where East met West on many occasions, as a restricted border crossing where the KGB and CIA often traded spies. It reopened to he public the day after the Berlin Wall fell in 1989. Visitors today can learn about the bridge, with free entry.
