Schloss Osterstein is located to the north of Zwickau’s old town centre. This smart residence was originally home to the Electors of Saxony. It is a Renaissance building built from 1587 to 1590. From the 18th century it was used as a prison, until 1962. It was left to become a ruin, however ,in recent years it has been undergoing restoration and will re-open as a nursing home. It is not open to the public.
