Schloss Biebrich is a grand palace built in the Wiesbaden suburb of Biebrich. This is the place that the counts von Nassau-Usingen, who controlled the town, lived until the 19th century. The palace was built from 1700 until 1744 over a period of stages, starting with the north pavilion, and finally adding the wings to the sides. The palace is built in a horseshoe layout. Inside the décor is of a Baroque and Rococo style. The palace is not open to the public, instead it houses the state president and many other official functions. There is a horsedriving competition every year in the grounds, however.
