The Propsteikirche St. Viktor in Xanten is commonly known as the Dom, although it is not officially a cathedral. The current Gothic building largely dates from a period of alterations from the 13th century up until 1525. It was originally a Romanesque church, and is still known for its large façade. The towers are now much taller than they were originally. Inside, there are five aisles and many medieval objects still in use and on display.
