The Altes Rathaus, or Old Town Hall, in Wiesbaden, is the oldest building surviving in the city. It was built in 1610 as a half-timbered structure, of which it was largely replaced with stone in 1829 to ensure its survival. Today the building serves as a register office for births, deaths and marriages. The hall is located on the Market Place in the old town of Wiesbaden. It has been visited by many dignitaries in the past, including John F. Kennedy.
