The Museum für Frühindustrialisierung in Barmen, part of Wuppertal, is the Museum for Early Industry. The museum displays many items of interest from early industry in the 17th- and 18th centuries, which the region is known for. Also, in front of the museum is Engels-Haus, which can be entered with the same ticket. It is the elegant 18th century home of the Engels family, who were successful in the textile industry. Their some, Friedrich Engels, also went on to work in Manchester’s textile industry and also write the book The Condition of the Working Class in England, and also collaborate with Karl Marx.
