Set in Würzburg’s Festung Marienberg, the Mainfränkisches Museum is a museum of history for the town. Over 1,200 years of history are covered, through various rooms and exhibits. This covers the founding of Würzburg, the days of St. Kilian, the town around 1525, Würzburg in World War 2. The museum houses a treasure trove of important historical items that had been walled into a room of the castle in the Thirty Years’ War and then forgotten about until 1907. There are also many works of art on display.
