The Liebfrauenkirche, or Church of Our Dear Lady, in Worms is a 14th century church, built between 1310 and 1468 – likely as a predecessor to an earlier Roman church on the site. The Liebfrauenkirche can be seen as a towering island surrounded by nature, with its huge Gothic presence set amongst many vineyards. It is this church which gives name to the famous white wine Liebfraumilch, created locally. A long term restoration project is underway to save the church, which has been a protected monument since 1954.
