The Lessing House (Lessinghaus) in Wolfenbüttel is a smart summer house residence with triple wings, situated in front of the town’s famous library near the ducal palace. It was built as the residence for the librarian. It got its name from Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, who was the second librarian here and spent 11 years in the post. He wrote Nathan the Wise whilst in this position. The house is open to the public, with a small display on Lessing.
