At No. 95 Breite Strasse in Wernigerode is the Krell’sche Schmiede Museum. This half-timbered house dates from 1678, and was for most of its life a blacksmith’s shop. Today this museum displays various horseshoes, scattered around the walls and rooms, and covers the history of the building and process of producing them. There is also a display on the people who lived there, with childrens’ books and household items. The museum is a wonderful opportunity to have a look inside this historic building. It charges a small entrance fee.
