The Käppele, or Chapel, in the southwestern part of Würzburg is a lovely old Baroque building. It was built by Balthasar Neumann between 1747 and 1750, and includes two towers. Inside, the décor can be described as lavish, paintings around the walls by Matthias Günther. This church has been a place of pilgrimage for many years, and is worth the visit for its views over the River Main and surroundings. A steep lane gives a pleasant walk up to the Kappele.
