To the north of Westerland on the Friesian island of Sylt is the small village of Kampen. This is a wonderful little place to explore, with narrow twisting streets and old buildings. In the past, Kampen was a place for writers and artists to come for inspiration and solitude. Today it is a popular tourist attraction on the island. Its streets are lined with cafes, boutiques and antique stores. Around the town lie sand dunes and beaches.
