The Heylshof Museum in Worms is located on the site of the former bishops’ court and imperial lodgings. These buildings burnt down in 1689, however after archaeological excavations, the remains have been used to reconstruct the site of Luther’s trial in 1521. The museum is set in Heylshof palace and its wonderful park grounds. Its collections of art once owned by Baron Cornelius W von Heyl and his wife, who declared their house and grounds be opened to the public upon their death. Following World War 2 fire damage, the house was reconstructed. There is also an impressive porcelain collection.
