The Harz Museum just off the Market Place in Wernigerode is a museum dedicated to the half timbered houses in the town, as well as the history of the region. It is itself set in one of these beautiful buildings. The exhibition covers the history of these buildings, and how they were constructed. The other part of the museum covers the geology, fauna and natural history of the Harz region, and covers the history of the various industries here. A small entrance fee is charged. The museum is open most days, year-round.
