The second of the two main art galleries in the artists’ colony village of Worpswede, near Bremen, is the Grosse Kunstschau. This gallery was designed, built and established in 1927 by the painter, architect and sculptor Bernhard Hoetger. It was the intention that the local art movement would be able to show off their works here. This tradition is held today, with current local artists displaying their art. The building itself is significant, being heralded as an Expressionist masterpiece. There is a small entrance fee.
