The Wilhelm Morgner Haus in Soest is named after the acclaimed Expressionist painter who came from the town, and was killed on the Flanders battlefields at a young age. This is the cultural centre in the town, with galleries of many works of art – including some by Morgner, displayed in the main gallery. Paintings, sculptures and engravings cover the majority of the displays. Tours and talks are held regularly, though usually only in German. Temporary exhibitions pass through regularly on a cultural theme.
