Located in the Simeonstift attached to the Porta Nigra building is Trier’s City Museum (Städtisches Museum). It is located in the ground floor of the building, which was formerly the cloister of the church. The museum has some fascinating exhibits and insights into the history of Trier. It is spread over many rooms and has some original sculptures, Egyptian grave masks, Roman terracotta lamps, and Coptic textiles. There is an entrance fee. The museum is open most days, and there is a restaurant in the building.
