Saarbrücken Rathaus, or Town Hall, was designed by Georg J. von Hauberisser who also designed the city halls in Munich and Wiesbaden. It is quite an ornate building with a dominating tower and preserved façade that represents various trades – most of them from the past. They include statues of a blacksmith, farmer, brewer, merchant, and shepherd. The town hall is a popular location for weddings in the city. Visitors can enter for free, and also browse the Tourist Information office which is located there. Inside, the ballroom is particularly worth seeing.
