The pedestrian old town of Saarbrücken’s main focal point is the St. Johanner Markt (St. Johann Market Square) where many people – both locals and visitors - gather throughout the day and night to relax and spend time at the bars and cafes here. In the centre of the square is a baroque fountain dating from 1759. The square is close to the palace, history museum, older churches, and the river. It is a great place to have a meal and people watch.
