Schillerplatz is one of the main squares in Stuttgart, and one of the most attractive parts of the city. It is believed that the original Stud Farm, which the city was named after, stood on this spot. There is a statue of Friedrich Schiller in the square, dating from 1839. Surrounding the square are historic buildings such as the Old Chancellery from 1544, the Prinzenbau from 1678 and the gabled Stiftsfruchtkasten from 1578. There are also some cafes, bars and restaurants on the square.
