Petrikirche in Soest is the oldest parish church in the city, and one of the oldest in Westphalia. It is a Romanesque church dating from 1150, and much expanded in the 14th and 18th centuries. Its tower has distinctive onion domes atop, and the western façade is particularly inspiring. The church was heavily damaged in World War 2, and reconstructed by 1955. Inside is a Gothic chancel, 14th century triumph cross, and two 15th century frescoes depicting the Crucifixion by Conrad von Soest.
