The Osthofentor in Soest is one of the only remaining parts of the town’s original walled fortifications. It acted as the north eastern gateway into the city – one of ten - and is built in a Renaissance style around 1523. Today the gateway houses a museum covering the history of Soest, with many displays on the former layout of the town and a collection of old weapons and 25,000 crossbow bolts in the attic to see.
