The Nikolaikapelle is a wonderful small chapel in Soest. It was built in the 12th century. Inside it features a spacious main room, with pillars rising to the ceiling throughout. All along the walls are wonderful wall paintings dating from around 1400. There are also a number of sculptures from this period. The altarpiece is by Conrad of Soest, and is especially noteworthy. It is believed the building was constructed as a memorial chapel.
