The Marktplat, or Market Square in Tübingen is the hub of the old town (Altstadt), and the most picturesque part to visit. It is only a short walk along Burgsteige from the castle complex. At the market square you will find the old town hall build in Gothic and Renaissance styles between 1435 and the 1500s. Its crowning feature externally is an astronomical clock from 1511. In the centre of the square is the Neptune Fountain from 1617.
