One of the two main squares in Tübingen is the Holzmarkt (the other being the Market Place). On this square you’ll find the impressive Stiftskirche St. Georg, which dominates the view. In the centre of the square is the Georgsbrunnen fountain with its statue, and the Baroque Alte Aula, which was formerly the university. The Cottahaus was formerly the headquarters of the famous publishing company now based in Stuttgart. Also just off the Holzmarkt is the Students Prison (Studentenkarzer), which has guided tours.
