The Burghof in Soest is an old patrician’s mansion house located close to the city centre. It is built in the Romanesque style and dates from around 1560, made of local green sandstone. Originally two of Soest’s most influential families lived in the Burghof, and the Knight’s Hall inside gives an overview of what their living conditions were like. Today the Burghof houses the city’s Local History Museum covering the town’s development from the middle ages to the present through its crafts, folklore and industry.
