Burg Schlitz is one of the best Neo Classical buildings in Mecklenburg. It was built between 1800 and 1823 and is set in some fantastic grounds. It was built for Frierich Adam Leiblin as a private residence. In 1992 it was fully restored, and in 1999 it opened as a hotel and restaurant – one of the finest around. Guests get to stay in the historic rooms, decorated as they once will have looked. The grounds are open for wandering around, with lakes, walkways, lawns and many trees. The famous fountain of nymphs (Nymphenbrunnen) can be found in the grounds, which was brought here in 1930.
