The Amtshaus in central Steinau is more commonly known as the Brothers Grimm House. It was here that the famous siblings stayed when their father worked as a magistrate in the town. This is a lovely Renaissance house which is richly decorated. Inside there are various displays on the history and works of the Brothers Grimm. Guided tours are available if booked in advance. The house is open most days throughout the year. There is a small entrance fee.
