The Bürgerpark in Saarbrücken is on the site of the former coal port. The city was once at the centre of a huge coal mining and industrial region and this park is littered with relics from the coal and iron industries. The park has been laid out with a contemporary feel, cleverly combining relics such as shells of buildings and old railway tracks into walks and monuments. The park is close to the city centre and free to enter.
