For those who love food and shopping, Munich’s Viktualienmarkt is a must. The large colourful open air market is in the centre of the city and has been in existence since 1807. It is full of stalls selling meats, spices, cheeses and breads. The choices are from all over Europe and all fresh. If you visit on Shrove Tuesday, you will be greeted with the Market Women’s Dance, held every year.
