The Elisabethkirche in Marburg was the second entirely Gothic church built in Germany (after Trier’s church). It was constructed between 1235 and 1283. Inside, there are some Gothic altars from the 16th century which are worth seeing. A statue of St. Elisabeth can be found near the choir, and a model of the church dating from 1480. Elisabeth is buried under the choir, and her reliquary from 1235-49 is situated in the vestry. The church is still in use.
