St. Bartholomew’s Chapel (Bartholomäuskapelle) in Paderborn is credited with being the oldest hall style church in Germany. It was consecrated in 1017, and is located in the centre of the city, to the north of the cathedral (Dom), with which it is affiliated. It has undergone various slight changes to its interior décor over the years, and damage in World War 2 had to be rectified. It is used for special occasions today, and visitors are often permitted to look around inside.
