Old Town
Kirschgarten, Mainz 55116 - Germany

Map
The Altstadt, or Old Town, of Mainz, is the most pleasant part of the town to take a stroll through. Here you will find narrow twisting alleys, crooked old houses, and plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to spend time at. Kirschgarten, which means Cherry Garden, is the most pleasing street to wander along. Lined with half-timbered houses dating from the 16th-18th centuries, you would not believe that most were severely damaged in World War 2 considering the restoration effort that has taken place.
