Munich’s Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus) stands at the eastern end of Marienplatz. The building standing today is a reconstruction of the original 15th century design which was destroyed in World War 2. The original had been modified many times, so today’s structure is more likely to be faithful to the original plans, and it looks very authentic. Inside the clock tower is the Toy Museum, spread over four floors. There is also a banqueting hall inside the Old Town Hall, although all city business now takes place inside the New Town Hall.
