The New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) is a fine, imposing structure on the north side of Munich’s Marienplatz. It was built between 1867 – 1909 in Flanders Gothic style. The façade of the building is elaborately decorated, with statues of kings, dukes, saints, and characters from folklore. The tower of the building rises to 80 metres, which can be visited for a great view over the city. It also houses a 43-bell Glockenspiel which puts on three shows daily.
