The New Botanical Gardens are located next to the park and grounds occupied by Schloss Nymphenburg palace. They replaced an old gardens near the railway station in the early 20th century. The gardens contain different climatic regions of the earth, each displaying the flora found in that region. Areas include pine forest, heather moorland, Arctic tundra, desert dunes, steppes and Alpine country. The gardens make for a pleasant place to stroll, and contain a café.
