Müritzsee Lake
Müritz - Germany

Map
The Müritzsee in the Müritz National Park is Germany’s second largest lake (after Lake Constance). It covers 44 square miles (115 square kilometres), and its name literally means “small sea”. The lake was formed after the last ice age and, despite its size, its average depth is only 6 metres. The lake is a national conservation area, and along its shores are various areas of meadows, forests and small streams. The Müritzsee is a popular place for water sports, and it becomes a hive of activity in the summer months.
