The central market square is the heart of the old town of Oldenburg, and a stone’s throw from the old castle. Here on the square you will find the impressive St. Lambert’s Church. Also here are the old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus), which is built in a mix of Gothic and Renaissance styles and still serves some administrative purposes. Also here is the Haus Degode, which is the oldest surviving house in Oldenburg. It is a half-timbered building from 1617. The market square is a good place to enjoy a drink or some food.
