The grand Lenbachhaus is an elegant villa dating from 1882 and originally the home of Franz von Lenbach who collected many artworks in his time. Today the Municipal Art Gallery is located in the house. Paintings from the Gothic period to the present from Munich painters are displayed – including those of the famous Blaue Reiter (Blue Rider) school of painting. You will also find some international artists on display, including Picasso and Dali. Temporary exhibitions and lectures are also held here.
