The Landesmuseum is another of the more popular attractions in Mainz. The museum is dedicated to monuments, paintings and sculptures, and will not disappoint. On display items from the Stone Age up to the present day, with many archaeologically important finds. Other exhibitions include a collection of Byzantine coins, Jugendstil glassworks from Höchst and a Picasso portrait. The museum is one of the oldest in the Federal Republic of Germany, located inside the grand former Kurfürstenkaserne building.
