The Kloster Abdinghof is a church in central Paderborn which was established as a monastery in 1015, originally with 51 abbots in residence. The twin towered church had numerous expansion phases and residents over the years. From the reformation in 1517 Abdinghof became a stronghold of the old faith. It became a barracks for French Prussian troops in 1815, until turning back to a church in 1871. The building was damaged by bombs in 1945, and later restored. Today it is the main Evangelical church in the city, still retaining much of its original character.
