The Imperial Palace Museum in Paderborn covers the history of the city and its association with Charlemagne. The building was constructed on the excavated foundations of the original 11th century palace. Many of the artefacts discovered in these excavations are on display, and demonstrate the times in which Charlemagne founded the city, with drinking vessels and household items used in great feasts. The museum and palace includes the remains of the chapel and cellars. The museum is a fascinating insight in the old Paderborn.
