Herrenchiemsee Palace
Herrenchiemsee 83209 - Germany

Map
Herrenchiemsee Palace is located on the island in the Chiemsee lake, off the coast from Prien and Stock. King Luwig II of Bavaria bought the island in 1873 so that he could build a replica of the Palace of Versailles. What you see today is all that was completed, however it is still an impressive feat. Georg Dollmann designed this “Bavarian Versailles”, however King Ludwig died before it was completed. The palace is a popular tourist attraction, where visitors can see the king’s rooms and many of the restored interiors.
