Munich’s Cathedral Church of Our Lady is usually referred to simply as Frauenkirche. It is a very large church, with two large brick towers flanked by domes which dominate the city’s skyline. It is a Gothic building and was built from 1468 to 1488 and extended in 1524. You can use a lift inside the south tower to reach the top, where good views over the city can be had. Inside the church many of the original windows and paintings are in place, having been stored safely during the bombings of World War 2. This is the church for the Archbishopric of Munich-Freising.
