The Fichtelbergbahn is a narrow gauge mountain railway which runs from Cranzahl to Oberwiesenthal. The journey is 17km long and takes an hour. The route passes through the stunning Erz Mountains at an altitude of 238 metres, and passes over six bridges, including the Hüttenbach Viaduct. The railway was originally built to support the mining operations in the region. Today it is used by skiers and tourists, and is popular with rail enthusiasts. Several journeys are made each day.
