The Deutsches Museum (German Museum) is the largest museum of science and technology in Europe, covering 5 hectares of its own island in the River Isar. The museum has been in existence since 1903, established by engineer Oskar von Miller. It is popular with the younger generations because of its many hands-on experimental and educational displays. However, the exhibits on display are first class, with sections on aviation, mining, electricity, bridge building, marine and land transport. On display is the world’s first motorcar and the first vertical takeoff plane. The train Lokomobil from 1862 is on site and still working. It can take days to see everything in the museum, but it is a must!
