The Cuvilliéstheater, or Altes Residenztheater, is a masterpiece of a building. It used to be located where the current Residenztheater is, however after bombing during World War 2, the building was reconstructed on its present location. Clever foresight meant that much of the original interior was saved as it was dismantled and stored safely before the bombing took place. The theatre only holds 450 people in its ornate four-tiered auditorium, but it is perfectly suited for the works that are performed here.
