The castle gardens, or Schlossgarten, in Oldenburg is situated opposite the castle. It is modelled in an English garden style, after originally serving the purpose of a dairy yard and market garden for the castle. It is a favourite spot for relaxing and walking in Oldenburg centre, with many paths. There are plenty of grassed areas, flowerbeds, and also boathouses. Plant lovers will enjoy the rose gardens and areas of rhododendrons and the many local species of trees.
