The Schlosskirche, or castle church, is a wonderful old building once associated with the castle in Neustrelitz (which was destroyed in 1945). The church was designed in a neo-Gothic style by Friedrich William Buttel, and built from 1855-59. It features large towers and an ornate exterior. Today the building is used as an art gallery, displaying works of sculpture and plastics by different artists. These are usually on loan from other museums, and take place over three different exhibitions during the summer months.
