Burg Pyrmont is a large 13th century castle built in a remote part of the Mosel Valley, at the village of Roes. It passed through different hands over the years either through hereditary lines or transferring between families. It was reconstructed and remodelled in the Baroque era, and then by the 1800s had become ruinous and empty. From 1963, new owners began restoring the building. Today it is still partially ruinous, but is now open to visitors who can see restored rooms and furnishings of the building, as well as learning about its history.
